It's a great question, and the answer depends on much more than which town you choose. Neighborhood location, proximity to BART, Highway 24 access, school traffic, and even where you enter the freeway can make a meaningful difference in your daily routine.
While Orinda, Lafayette, and Moraga are often grouped together as Lamorinda, I think of them as a collection of micro-markets. Each community—and often each neighborhood—offers a different balance of commute convenience, lifestyle, and long-term value.
For most buyers, commute times to San Francisco range from 30 to 70 minutes, depending on where they live and how they travel.
Orinda is generally considered the most commuter-friendly town in Lamorinda, making it a popular choice for buyers traveling regularly to San Francisco or Oakland.
