Selling a Home, Orinda Real Estate, Seller Tips Jen Moeller October 27, 2026
If you're thinking about selling your home in Orinda, you've probably wondered how to find the right real estate agent.
A quick Google search for the best real estate agent in Orinda will give you plenty of names, rankings, and reviews. But choosing someone to sell your home is a much more personal decision than picking a name from a list.
And I think it should be.
I live in Orinda, and one of the things I've come to appreciate most about this community is how different our homes and neighborhoods really are. There isn't a formula that works for every property, and there certainly isn't one that works for every homeowner.
Whether you're preparing to sell this year or simply beginning to think about the next chapter, here are a few things I'd encourage you to consider when choosing an agent.
Orinda is a unique real estate market.
A home in Glorietta can feel very different from one in Sleepy Hollow, Orinda Downs, or Del Rey. Even within the same neighborhood, properties can vary dramatically in their setting, privacy, access, usable outdoor space, and overall appeal.
And those differences matter to buyers.
A flat, usable backyard may be especially appealing to one family, while another buyer may place greater value on privacy, views, or proximity to downtown Orinda and BART.
Older homes can also come with considerations that aren't always obvious from the listing photos. Drainage, foundations, retaining walls, roofs, insurance availability, and past improvements are all things worth understanding.
This is why I believe local knowledge goes well beyond knowing what the house down the street sold for.
A good Orinda listing agent should understand why certain homes attract more interest, what buyers may question, and how to position your particular property in the market.
When interviewing agents, it's tempting to gravitate toward the person who suggests the highest price.
I understand that. Your home is likely one of your most valuable assets, and of course you want to maximize its value.
But I think you deserve an agent who will tell you what they genuinely believe, even when that isn't necessarily what you were hoping to hea
